How a Designer Does It: Gift Wrapping Edition
If you’re going to give a gift, why not gift gorgeously? Get ready to hear a lot of “oohs” and ahhs” this holiday season because we’re about to show you how to create Pinterest-worthy presents! Sound good? Let’s get our inspo on! 😉
Wearable Gift Wrap
Beautiful bangles make a great gift on their own, but they make even better package decorations!
Cut two pieces of (wide) ribbon long enough to wrap around the gift box.
Take the bracelet and thread one piece of ribbon through it.
Gather the ends, and place the bangle in the center of the gift box top.
Flip it over and secure the ends on the bottom of the gift box with tape. Repeat this with the other side, pulling the ribbon tight, so the bracelet stays in place.
Winter Scene Gift Toppers
Make each gift a literal work of art! This is a perfect (and very easy) gift wrap idea! In fact, you likely will already have all the supplies you need. 😉
Download and print your favorite winter scene paintings from the Rijks Studio. You can resize for your packages by adjusting the % scale in the print dialogue box.
Trim each picture, leaving a 1/4″ white border.
Cut slits slightly wider than your satin ribbon in the center-top and bottom of each picture.
Slip the ribbon through the slits and then wrap it around your packages.
Natural Greenery Gift Wrap
Talk about green AND gorgeous! This chic gift wrapping idea makes use of fresh plant cuttings to create a delightfully organic vibe. 🌿
-Fresh cuttings from evergreen trees and shrubs such as cedar, juniper, boxwood, rosemary, eucalyptus, etc.
-Hot glue gun
-Craft paper: you can also use the inside of paper grocery bags as an eco-friendly option.
-Clear scotch tape
-Strings: (optional) hemp twine, baker twine, jute twine, or yarn.
Take a small piece of cutting, and trim it to fit the gift package.
Use a hot glue gun to secure it in place.
Wrap decorative strings around the package and attach a gift tag (if desired.)
Dip Dyed Delight
This pretty wrapping paper is a gift in and of itself! A very chic and budget-friendly DIY!
-Dye in the color of your choice (EXCEPT for red, guys, trust us.)
Dip the corners or edges of white craft paper into diluted dye, leaving it for a few seconds (or up to a minute.)
Lay on a flat, protected surface to dry.
When completely dry, wrap your gifts.
(Optional) Tie with matching ribbon and embellish with an ornament, jingle bells, or greenery. Easy peasy!
Graphic Gift Wrap
This modern gift wrap is as fun to create as it is to receive!
-Washi tape in colors and/or metallics
-Gift box or gift wrap (white or black tends to look best.)
Cut washi tape into desired shapes.
Stick cut pieces of tape onto a wrapped gift or gift box.
Wrap around with string and tie into a bow.
Attach gift tag (optional.)
