We love where we live and we want to preserve and inspire the next generation of additions, remodels, and new construction. We find inspiration in our local region and like to integrate nature’s palette of colors and textures.

Owner/ Principal Designer
SUMMERHOUSE is lead by Spirit Diener. Spirit has over fifteen years of Interior Design experience working on projects ranging from high-end Residential to Commercial and Hospitality Interiors. Spirit enjoys exploring the relationships between objects, people, and spaces. She is an architecturally trained Interior Designer with an eye for detail. Spirit’s designs are often influenced by her love of the outdoors. Spirit’s experience of living in beautiful cities like Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Vail, and Lake Tahoe has greatly shaped her view of architecture/design and their relationship to culture, nature, and community. She studied Art and Interior Architecture at California College of the Arts, The Academy of Art San Francisco and later received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interior Design from California State University Sacramento.
Outside of work you can find Spirit enjoying life with her two rambunctious young daughters and her husband. They often explore the nearby Redwood forests or the plethora of local beaches, garden, cook, or hunt for those unique items that set a home apart.

In addition to features in print and media over the years, our projects have been consistently honored with over 70 awards, including 10 coveted gold nugget awards. Our extensive design work at the Five Diamond Rancho Valencia Resort and Spa in Rancho Santa Fe has contributed to multiple accolades and awards. (Named #1 Hotel in the US, #1 Hotel in California, #1 Relais & Chateaux in North America by US News and World Report Travel in 2015 and recognized for several ‘Best’ awards by Conde Nast Traveler).
